Integrating pharmacists into general practice

• A qualitative interview study in Northern Ireland involved interviews with eleven triads of GPs, Practice-Based-Pharmacists (PBPs) and Community Pharmacists.

• PBPs were perceived to have a positive impact on primary healthcare delivery.

• Patient awareness/ understanding of the PBP role was perceived to be lacking.

• Ask your PBPs to work with the practice manager in developing a page on your website about the support they offer patients.

• Have information about your PBPs on electronic/ written notice boards in your reception area.

• Explore how your PPG could help raise awareness of the role of new PCN team members including PBPs with your wider population.
